What I’m going to share with you in this video sounds deceptively simple.
And it REALLY is simple. But to be honest, I heard this advice a lot before I actually tried it…and just LISTENING to advice isn’t that useful. You need to try it!
When I did try it, I was like “holy smokes, this actually works!”
So if you want to grow your intuitive connection with your cards, watch the video and give it a try!

Hi Carrie! You’re not alone in cyber land! I thank you for sharing this tip with us, it’s something I sometimes do, then I kind of forget it or disregard it, yet it’s so simple and so worthwhile, and I’m really glad you have emphasised how important this is – it really is true that you get out of things as much as you put in to them, and when it comes to exploring a card, it really is amazing how deep one can go by just observing and describing- it’s like the ultimate journaling prompt!
Absolutely! It was a good reminder for me as well – I want to do this technique with some of my newer decks! Thanks for the nice comment <3
Hi Carrie,
It’s me again! I just wanted to thank you once again for posting this: since I watched it, I actually took action on it (for a change from my usual “putting off till later” attitude) and I’ve been working through the Japaridze Tarot. So far, I’ve done the Fool, Justice and today, Love. It’s been blowing my mind, the artwork is so abstract that it’s a perfect conduit for original interpretation, and I’ve been loving every single minute of it! Thank you for helping me rekindle my inspiration 🙂
Nirmala, that’s awesome to hear! I think the Japaridze deck would be particularly powerful to do this with. I’m glad you’re actually doing this exercise, so cool. <3 😀
Such a seemingly simple tip, yet sooo effective! Thank you for sharing Carrie it really does make a difference. <3
Aww, I’m glad! 🙂
Hi Carrie, I’m so thrilled to have found your video about forming an intuitive relationship with a tarot deck. I have heard over and over again to look at the cards and observe how I feel about them, and it was only getting me so far. There is such simple genius to actually writing down what you see and feel. I’m starting a new tarot journal stat! I can’t wait to see how my practice expands. Thank you for sharing your gifts!
That’s awesome, have fun with your new journal! Yes, this is deceptively simple but SOOOO effective. 🙂 <3
I find it really helps me to write it down. I work with non-traditional imagery decks. I find if I simply look at the cards I may get initial intuitive feeling about it, but it continually surprises me at how this whole new level of insight opens up simply by pulling out my journal and describing the cards. There is this magical thing that happens. I have recently been exploring Tarot de Marseille. I had been turned off by it as had no idea how to relate to the pip cards, and now I am finding that this simple, profound tip works with the pip cards too. They have made me firm believer of taking time to do this. What a joy. I just found out about you through Tarot summer school. I plan on taking your summer class. and also booking reading with you. Am thankful to have come across you.
Hi Eve, that is awesome you’re studying the Tarot de Marseille. I haven’t yet tried this exercise with that deck but I agree, it seems particularly useful with a more abstract deck. I’m so happy you’ll be doing the summer school class! <3 Nice to meet you 🙂
Hi, Carrie. This advice is simple, and yes, you’re not the only one who gave it, but you’re right: usually we forget to do it, and then it’s harder to understand our tarots, so thank you to remind us how important is to make this personal connection 🙂 Have a nice day
P.S. Sorry if I made some mistakes, I’m not mothertongue
You’re welcome, Tania 🙂 Thanks for your kind comment!
