Do you ever find yourself procrastinating your Tarot reading – or other creative work – because you just “don’t feel like it?” This used to happen to me all the time. I was waiting for the magical feeling of being ‘in the zone’ or ‘in flow.’ I’ve now learned that the four steps I share in today’s video help me get myself into the creative zone. Don’t procrastinate by waiting for this feeling to magically arrive – create it for yourself!
These steps are what work for me, and they might work for you. Or, you might have some different tricks up your sleeve. What helps you get ‘in the zone?’ I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

Great advice – I was talking recently in a video about my bad habit of needing the circumstance to be perfect in order to get painting, and how I want to overcome that! I use some similar steps and they definitely help. 🙂
I think it is a bad habit many of us have! Thanks for the comment & I’m glad you liked the video. 🙂
Great advice Carrie :)! I especially like the idea of washing your hands before a reading as a symbol of washing away residual energy. It will also help keep the cards clean too!
I like to schedule creative time into my calendar. It doesn’t sound particularly conducive to the spontaneous creative force I imagine is “best”, but it actually really works for me. I even find myself looking forward to my scheduled creative time and get right to business with the time comes instead of continuing to procrastinate!
Ahh, Deird, that is great advice. I have to schedule my creative time as well! Sometimes if we don’t schedule it and just wait for the spontaneous creative force…well, we might be waiting a while! Thanks for the comment.
Love this advice, Carrie! In fact, I’m going to try it right now, as I’ve been procrastinating all day. 🙂
One thing I like to do too, particularly with creative work (for me, it’s writing), is take a few minutes before I start, close my eyes, and just visualize the scene I need to write or the desired outcome. It really helps me to focus on the actual creative work instead of using that time to daydream or stare at a blinking cursor on the screen — the visualization gives me a little road map.
Thanks again for the tips!
You are very welcome! I like the idea of visualization as well… I used to do that more frequently and have let it slide. You’ve inspired me to pick it up again! 🙂
