Each tarot card is infused with symbols, philosophies and meanings – giving the cards a limitless intrigue. In the Life Lessons :: Tarot Card Meanings series, I will explore one card and some of the lessons it has to offer. Each card has a wide spectrum of meanings, so this post is not meant to be all inclusive!
Knight of Wands Tarot Card Meanings Keywords:
- Heat of the Moment
Have you ever met someone (or been someone) who bucks convention, letting fire and passion lead the way? The Knight of Wands blazes his or her own trail. This is someone who follows each new thrilling curiosity that life throws their way (even if it means dropping their current curiosity like a hot potato). Someone who radiates a sense of excitement and adventure.
I wanna be more like that.
These kind of people are, quite frankly, hot. As much crap as we talk on them (they can’t commit, they’re not responsible, yadda yadda) we can’t help but gravitate towards them. They’re magnetic. We want more. We want to be in their energy field, soakin’ up that sweet, sweet heat.
Lately I’ve been noticing an interesting phenomenon. When I follow what feels hot, good things happen. When I’m following what’s hot, other people can sense it. That energy infuses itself into my writing, my tarot readings, my very presence.
But there’s a part of me that gets fixated on doing what I’m ‘supposed’ to do. I sit down to write a blog post. I have it set in my mind that I’m going to write about a topic that I mapped out months ago. But when I try to write…it fizzles. It falls flat.
Following what is hot will yield the best results. Your enthusiasm (or lack thereof) seeps into everything you do.
The rancid smell of faked-passion can be discerned a mile away.
It’s been said that new ideas have a shelf-life. This doesn’t mean you need to abandon your plans. But it does mean you need to listen to your muse. If something seems so fucking exciting that you can’t contain yourself, go with that.
Life is a grand adventure! And though there is certainly something to be said for staying the steady course, you’re not gonna get much of anywhere if you’re bored. Explore your weird inclinations, even if they don’t seem to line up with what you ‘should’ be doing. You are being guided. If you’re drawn towards a whim that feels hot and sexy, lean in.
Exploration should always precede commitment.
Try things. New things. Exciting things. Dangerous things. Explore – and if it doesn’t work – dump it! Maybe you won’t be a flamenco-dancing student for the rest of your life, but if it sounds thrilling now, shake those hips! The beauty of experimenting without real commitment is that if it doesn’t work – or if it fizzles in time – you can drop it like it’s hot and try something new yet again.
I’m taking my own advice here. There are some things in my life that have become terribly dull, and it’s time for me to invite a hefty dose of Knight of Wands energy into my life. You’ll get to see some of my process. I’ll be trying new things with my videos. I’ll be letting even more of my personality and vulnerability come through in my blogs and newsletters. I’m gonna be brave and adventurous.
Won’t you join me?
